Holiday Shopping Safety Tips

Crime always seems to be on the rise during the holiday shopping season. This will be especially true during these tough economic times. Below are a few safety tips to help protect your safety, identity and sanity if you are one of the millions who will be holiday shopping on Black Friday;

 Dress comfortably
 Avoid wearing expensive jewelry while shopping
 Keep cash in your front pocket, instead of a wallet or purse
 Make sure that cells phone are charged in case of an emergency
 Stay alert of your surroundings and avoid, and report, any suspicious persons or
activity
 If you can, avoid using automatic revolving doors, this can be a way to trap
victims
 Always park in well lit areas
 Hide purchases out of plain view in the trunk of your vehicle
 If shopping with children, keep them close and make sure they are aware of what to
do if they get separated
 Do not get aggravated if asked for identification, it’s for your own safety

Hopefully, those that are able, will pump some life into our economy this weekend. Though our economy is on the road to recovery, let’s have fun, be safe and not forget what the holiday seasons are truly about!

Happy Holidays and Happy Shopping!
