I sometimes believe that if I win the lottery, all my perceived problems would disappear. But recently, I started wondering if the old saying “with more money, comes more problems” holds any truth.
The reason I have been asking this question is related to the recent events evolving American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino who was recently hospitalized as a results of an alleged suicide attempt. Mrs. Barrino was the winner of “Idol” in 2004; she later put out a successful record, an autobiography, overcame illiteracy, and played the lead role in the Broadway production of The Color Purple.
Despite all the success and triumph, many problems also followed after her win on American Idol. She soon found herself in financial trouble, cancellation of shows as a result of illnesses, and the recent incident involving an affair that many believe resulted in her nearly overdosing on aspirin and sleeping pills.
So; my question is just how much better or worse does money affect a person. And is it the money, the chances, the person or is money only showing a different side of a person that is sometimes best left unseen.

New Year....Is it really?
Happy New Year! January is the month that stands for "New, Start, and Begin" everyone says this is the month when they'll start their diets, budgets, and other things they have put off for the past year. January stands for how this year will kick off the Improved, Successful year that was started on last yearthat somehow didn't quite end as well as we had plan.
I've watched several talk shows and listen to the morning shows on the radio, and everyone is starting new rituals, routines, and lives. Now, I guess you are wondering where am I going with this...? I heard Tommy from the Steve Harvey show say "this year seems like a continuation from last year, ain't nothing different!" I laughed but I understood.
Of course, what he replied to was my broke friends are still begging, and so on, so forth. But what I have to say is some habits are hard to break, it takes strong will and determination to change lifestyles, and we have to be willing to change. Tenacious people look at the course of their lives and see where the deficient is and make the change.
A morning television spoke on becoming a Vegan for the New Year, and I thought could change be that simple. Is it possible for someone to wake up and say...this year...no meat! I thought long and hard; for some Yes it was that simple. No meat...No alcohol, No drugs, No cheating, No self loathing, No complaining, No stealing, No cursing, No overeating.....
I realized that we are the rulers of our lives destination, we have to steer our lives with determination to be the best knowledge and success we know how. Some things may take gradual steps until we can move to No...but eventually we will get there.
One person said to stop with negative thought and think positively, and that's less work. For example, More fruits and vegetables, More water and juices, More time with my wife/husband or guy/girl, More self acclamation, More compliments, More shopping in my budget, More use of positive words and last but not least.....ONLY eating when I'm hungry and what's good for me.
After much thinking and planning, I realized she was correct. Things seemed more doable after thinking positively about some personal changes that I need to correct that I've been trying to change since my adult years. I realized that if I minimized some of the negative and maximized the positive, maybe I could have a life style change that last longer than January 31, 2010, but a life time.
I'm learning that change is best when it's done for the good and the success for all parties involved. So go to the gym, cut back and hopefully your success will be all year, but if not, take the small step for the month and keep trying until the month turns into a year, and the years turn into life style change.

Are You Caught Between....?
I enjoy flipping through channels and “finding” something inspiring (thanks Holy Spirit). Recently, I saw a program featuring motivational speaker Delatorro McNeal II. I hadn’t heard of him, but just hearing the title of his book, Caught Between a Dream and a Job, I knew he had to be saying something I needed to hear. The book was released in January 2008. The rest of the title is How to Leave the 9 to 5 Behind and Step Into the Life You’ve Always Wanted. Here is information about the book from Delatorro’s website:

If you are tired of the 9 to 5 rat race, this will book will set you free!
Delatorro McNeal wants to help you move from "working to pay bills" to a life of significance, meaning, and excitement; a life of hope and expectation. • Design and customize your dream life, through the Art of Allowing
• Utilize the power of The Dream Job to be your bridge to occupational freedom
• Land your ideal Dream Job using five proven methodologies
• Hire yourself and take a leadership role in all areas of your life, starting now
• Utilize the magic of part-time to water your dream and harvest your future
• Develop power relationships that will empower your job to dream transition
Endorsed by many of the top personal and professional development experts from around the world, this book helps you powerfully transition from job living to dream living!
You were created to be a creator! Now that we are living in the Creative Age, this is the best time to allow the entrepreneurial spirit that lies within you to emerge and blossom to its fullest!
I can’t wait to read the book and add the advice, insight and strategies to my arsenal. On the back cover it indicates, “If your DREAM is bigger than your job, you must experience this book!” No offense to my current employer, but this is true. Is this true for you to? If so, perhaps this book holds the key.
