The Healthy You

I want to start this by saying Happy Monday! We as women always put so many things before ourselves.

We make sure that everyone has what they need beside us. I would like to take this opportunity to challenge each of you reading this to start taking care of you today. Over the last few months I have started to look at my own health seriously. This is something that I have neglected for several years because so many other life things had taken priority.

After reading a recent story about a very well known gospel singer's wife that kind of took me back I made a conscious decision to make me a priority. The well acclaimed singer, Marvin Sapp, wife succumbed to colon cancer about two weeks ago at the age of 42. This was powerful to me for a couple of reasons. She was the same age as myself and the fact that she passed from a disease that I had always associated with men. Studies are showing that black women are being diagnosed at higher rates than ever before.

So I charge that each of you take back your health today. I have a procedure schedule for tomorrow to have my colon checked out. I am not majorly concerned about it but a little because it was recommended by my physician that I schedule it.

Ladies we only have one us to give so we need to make sure that we take care of it. Be blessed and pay attention to your bodies.
