One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say they are too busy to do something. Anytime I hear someone say how busy they are, I cringe and pray that I am able to keep my mouth shut. But here on this blog, I can express my thoughts and hopefully get people to understand my way of thinking.
Yes, we are all busy in some way, shape or form. And while we like to think that no one is as busy as we are, we all have things going on and are busy. Just because you have different types of busy than me (you have kids and I don’t or you have to travel for work and I don’t) doesn’t mean that I am any less busy than you are.
In spite of all of this busy…if a friend calls and needs you for something, you find a way. If someone gets sick, you find a way to help. If someone has an extra ticket to the theatre, you find a way to go. In other words, despite being busy, you do any and everything that you really want to do.
My hope is that people stop hiding behind “busy” and just stand up and just say NO! There is nothing wrong with saying that you don’t want to do something…that’s your prerogative. Tell me that you don’t want to take the time to do something, or tell me that what I’m asking is not important enough to you for you to rearrange your schedule to do it. But please---don’t tell me you are too busy.
