In celebration to the pending Black History Month we should all pledge to spend more time with our children. Not just our biological children, but any youth that may need some guidance. I know that I talk about this often, but it is a topic near and dear to me. If these kids are truly the future of this nation, we need to get them on track asap. Being a parent of a teen and spending a lot of time around them I think that we really need to listen to their cries more.
On one of my daily ventures to work I encounter a lot of them. Just when I think that I have heard it all come from their lips, they surprise me yet again. Don't get me wrong I was young once but I find it hard to comprehend some of the conversations that go on with our youth.
The fact that I was forced to listen to mainly young women talk about the drama in their love life. They speak of the things that happened over the weekend and how they were going to manipulate a young man to gain his attention.
Please take this month as an opportunity to reach out to our children. I know that all can't be saved but if we take the time to reach at least one it is amazing the influence that they have on each other.
Much Love
