In November of 2009, I attended an economic empowerment summit, and really left feeling like I could take on the world! Even months later, the words of many of the speakers are still ringing in my mind. The lone female speaker was very accomplished and is founder and CEO of a global company with sales in the millions. She had many words of wisdom and delivered them with humor, power and love. She provided the info in a way that was easy to remember by using numbered list and acronyms. Toward the end of her presentation she said three words that I had heard before, but then she added an unexpected one. She was leaving us with the command to always improve. She said that we should strive to be good, better, best, and then the twist, better. Good, better, best…better! I loved it! It made me consider how many areas in my life are only good and possibly better and unfortunately, too many areas that are not best and better.
I just recently had a conversation about my weight with two dear friends who did not hold back. As I thought about what they said along with the charge from the speaker, I concluded that my eating habits are barely good. No wonder I struggle. I’d probably lose weight just by always making good food and exercise choices. Imagine where going for better, best better choices would take me!
So how would these food and exercise choices look?
Good – canned vegetables, Better – frozen vegetables, Best – fresh vegetables, Better - organic fresh vegetables.
Good – aerobic exercise 2x per week, Better – aerobic exercise 3x per week, Best – aerobic exercise 3x and lift weights 2x per week, Better – aerobic exercise 4x and lift weights 2x week.
This looks like a plan. I think I’ll give it a try.
