Hobo is asking if there is ever a time that a person should stop giving advice or stop trying to help another person. Hobo’s asking this question because I have a neighbor who is involved in a domestic relationship. I have called the police on a few occasions to intervene during a few of their fights. After the most recent incident and the police were involved the male was arrested and sent to jail.
A couple of days later the young lady came to my apartment and asked if I was the one who called the police, and if I were she wanted to thank me for “saving her life”. She went on to explain that this particular fight had gotten really bad and her nose was fractured in the incident. But she also mentioned that this was not the first time he had fractured her nose and despite the severity of the last fight; she stated that she was not “ready” to leave him. During the conversation she appeared more concerned with the possibility that after his release from jail he would be upset with her and not return home and not concerned that if he is upset; that he might hurt her again after his release from jail.
So, Hobo is asking is there anything more that a person can do or is there anything a person can do to help someone who seems content with a relationship that involves so much violence and hurt and could only hold a future filled with more pain?
Looking for answers,
Hobo
