I hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This time of year reminds me of those that are less fortunate than me. I reflect on our economy and the state of the world.
I have always reminded my daughter that we must always serve others. I have constantly promoted giving back since she was a little girl. It makes me proud because each at Thanksgiving she always wants to go out and service others. I am so proud that this is something that she truly believes in doing and not just because mom says she would have to.
So as each of us are out shopping this holiday season, please reach out and do something nice for others in your area. Your thoughts should go beyond home. Pick up a gift for a child that maybe in need or check on someone elderly, but just make sure you do at least one thing for someone other than yourself.
Here are some suggestions of places to donate time and/or gifts.
Boys and Girls Club
A local shelter for families, children or women
Our men and women that fight for our country
Hospital (there is always someone that is alone and would appreciate the time)
Senior Centers
Food Pantry
Reach out to a child that may be losing there way. God will lead you to one in need, just ask him.
During these stressful times we must start to return to things that matter. This will allow the children in our lives to value time and mankind versus material goods. Teach them now about the important things in life so when they are faced with life issues they will remember what is truly important.
Have a blessed holiday season and remember that giving to others is its own reward.
Much Love
