Open Your Mouth……

What do you say? Is the question I would like to ask some of the people who have the door held open for them by a stranger and then precedes them into the establishment? After the person stands there holding the door open and their party has proceeded in and on without them, he/she doesn’t even get a “Thank you”.

Our society complains about the younger generation….and about America turning into a rude group of people. We see crime is rising at alarming rates, so combat some of the anger with daily pleasantries. How about walking into McDonald’s or Starbuck’s for our morning cup of Ice Late’ with a smile and a cheerful “Good Morning”! Why can’t we place our money in her/his hand…since she/he gives us our change in our hands?

Women before you check out the young ladies entire outfit…from hair to silhouette….just smile…and say you look nice today. Even though you might not like the outfit…if it took you 10 minutes to gawk, it only takes a minute to smile or compliment something, even if it’s just the color of the purse, shoes, or hair.

We are turning into a country of grouchy, crude people. Yes, I understand unemployment and recession are negative aspects of America today…but what do we have to look forward to if everyone can’t be pleasant for only one small minute, or a second to give a friendly smile?

I’m so fed up with everyone being so nasty. We can’t stop the list of people being rude and ignorant, but we can at least, say “Thank You” to the Greeter at Wal-Mart when he/she says “Welcome to Wal-Mart”. My grandmother and Pastor used to say it’s just Nice to be Nice!

  1. While I understand the sentiment expressed, the positive position does not seem to be presented to readers.
