He did it!! My son made it through boot camp and is now a sailor in the United States Navy!!! I was able to attend his graduation and it is something that I can honestly say I will never forget.
My son went into the Navy as a teenager in August for 9 long weeks. He successfully triumphed over all of the rigorous boot camp training. On October 29th I witnessed not a teenager but a young man and it was a very, very proud moment for me!!!
He didn’t look all that different in the face but he stands taller, he speaks with confidence, and he walks with a slight swagger that I have never seen in my son before. Actually to say that I was very, very proud is a HUGE understatement because I was and am so much more than that. I don’t think I can even properly describe the feelings that I had while I watched the ceremony.
What I really want to convey is that prayer works and please don’t give up on your kids. They are all smart, talented little miracles that can succeed even when things don’t look all that successful. We just have to believe, pray, encourage, and then finally let go. In my opinion, parenting is the hardest job because it never ends but hands down it’s the most rewarding!!
